Hongyadong is a massive, iconic stilted building complex built into the side of a cliff overlooking the Jialing River in Chongqing. It is one of the city's most famous landmarks. A historic fortress dating back over 2,000 years, linked to the Shu Han Kingdom during the Three Kingdoms period. Legend says the "White Emperor" (Gongsun Shu) named it after seeing a white dragon in a well, an omen of his rise to power.

This designated National Scenic Spot is located in the Xiling Gorge not far upstream from the Three Gorges Dam. Kagoshima on the southern part of Kyushu Island, Japan is dominated by the active volcano Sakurajima. Shiroyama Park provides a panoramic view of the city with the volcano in the background across Kagoshima Bay. The city is also host to a small but comprehensive Acquarium show casing the life from the bay.

The Jeju-mok Government Office was a gwana, or regional government office, that historically served as the center of Jeju Island’s political, administrative, and cultural activities, spanning from its early days as the State of Tamna through the Joseon period. A significant portion of the structure was destroyed in a fire in 1434, leading to subsequent rebuilding efforts. From 1991, archeological excavations were conducted in four stages, enabling the meticulous restoration of several key buildings within the complex.

The gardens of Shikina-en (識名園) are located on a small hill to the south of Shuri Castle in Naha, Okinawa. The gardens are a legacy of the Ryūkyū Kingdom and displays a mixture of Japanese and Chinese design and features. The centrepiece is a pond containing two islands and a Chinese styled hexagon pavilion and a wooden residence.

Shuri Castle (首里城, Shuri-jō, Okinawan: Sui Ugusuku) is a Ryukyuan gusuku castle in Shuri, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Between 1429 and 1879, it was the palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom, before becoming largely neglected. In 1945, during the Battle of Okinawa, it was almost completely destroyed. After the war, the castle was re-purposed as a university campus. Beginning in 1992, the central citadel and walls were largely reconstructed on the original site based on historical records, photographs, and memory. In 2000, Shuri Castle was designated as a World Heritage Site, as a part of the Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu. On the morning of 31 October 2019, the main courtyard structures of the castle were again destroyed in a fire and is in the process of being reconstructed.

Arashiyama (Storm Mountain) is located west of Kyoto and often associated with its famed Bamboo Forest. But there is far more to Arashiyama than just this. It is dotted with temples and traditional Japanese architecture and parks that are prime viewing spots for Cherry blossoms in spring. The river Katsura then runs through Arashiyama adding to the tranquil ambience of the place.

This museum is located adjacent to Osaka Castle. The museum actually starts on the 10th floor and works its way down successive floors. Unlike many museums this one seeks to provide the visitor with a sense of what life was like in different periods of the history of Osaka with a partial replica of the court at Nara and miniatures of village life complete with a life sized replica of Osaka at the beginning of the Meiji Restoration period. Beginning with the 10th floor there are views of the city and positioned between floors are panoramic views of Osaka Castle and its grounds.

Shimizu is a port favoured by many Cruise Lines for its view of Mt Fuji. But Mt Fuji is fickle at the best of times and was cloud covered most of the day except at our arrival and departure. The fish market is very small in comparison to its better known counterparts in Tokyo and Osaka but it nevertheless does not disappoint offering up fresh seafood well prepared and presented by the many restaurants next to the market. I fortuitously stumbled upon a Japanese Taiko Drum exhibition at the Shimizu Marine Park.

Tsurugaoka Hachimangu (鶴岡八幡宮) is Kamakura's most important shrine. The shrine is reached via a long, wide approach and the main hall (Hongu or Jogu) stands on a terrace at the top of a wide stairway. At the base of the stairway stands the Maiden, a stage for dance and music performances. The Wakamiya Shrine stands to the right of the stairway.

Secluded in the hills of outside Kamakura, Hokokuji (報国寺, Hōkokuji) is a small temple of the Rinzai Sect of Zen Buddhism. It is known for the beautiful, small bamboo grove found behind the temple's main hall, A few narrow pathways lead through the bamboo to a tea house. Also located behind the temple are a series of shallow caves carved into the hillsides, which are believed to hold the ashes of some of the later Ashikaga lords.

Sankeien is a Japanese garden in the south of Yokohama. Several historic buildings were brought here for display including a three storied pagoda from Kyoto and a feudal lords residence. The park was opened in 1904

The second lesser known bombing, recorded in this museum is no less devastating or sobering than Hiroshima. This memorial painstakingly documents the horrific and heart breaking events of that fateful day in 1945. It must stand as a constant reminder that the world must never allow this to happen ever again.

Hakodate is a port city on the Kameda Peninsular in the Southern part of Hokkaido. The city is located on a sandbar between mainland Hokkaido and Mt Hakodate. Goryokaku fortress and Mt Hakodate are the most prominent landmarks in the city. It also features as one of the earliest Japanese ports open to foreign trade in 1854

A city that is well known for its well preserved fortress. It is located near Seoul and is reachable by the Metro system. The city wall is intact and can be used to walk around the whole settlement which used to be an old capital. The fortress is in stark contrast to the multinational technology giant Samsung which is headquartered here.

Bukchon is a traditional Korean village located next to the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. It housed senior officials and nobility of the Joseon Dynasty

Namsan overlooks Seoul city. Seoul Tower is located here and has expansive views of the capital city.

One of the "Five Grand Palaces" built by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty. The buildings are of varying styles, including some of natural cryptomeria wood, painted wood, and stucco. Some buildings were built of stone to replicate western palatial structures.
